If a BMP is ordered with a CMP, the guidelines state to just code the CMP code because it has the same and greater amount of tests.
My question is if the BMP is not specified as Calcium ionized or total, how do we know which test panel to use? The CMP test panel has Calcium total, but not Calcium ionized, which means an extra code would be used if it were ionized.
Thanks,
Chaim
